Apple Offers Price Protection and Store Credit to iPhone Owners

An outcry from early adopters of the iPhone could be heard after Apple, from an event focused on launching new iPods this week, announced that the 4GB iPhone will be discontinued and the price of the 8GB version cut by US$200 effective immediately. In somewhat of an unprecedented event, Apple responded to these customers by offering all iPhone owners a US$100 store credit to try to offset the difference in price. Apple also offers a Price Protection Guarantee, meaning if a customer's product was shipped no more than 14 days before a price drop, they are entitled to a full refund of the difference in price. MobileBurn has confirmed the Price Protection Guarantee applies to the iPhone. Customers wishing to take up the guarantee should call Apple on 1-800-676-2775, while those qualifying for the US$100 credit should visit http://www.apple.com/hotnews/openiphoneletter/ for more information.
